I started Casita Finds because every home we've lived in has taught me the same thing: a home does not become yours all at once. It happens through small choices — the bedding that makes a new room feel familiar, the basket that gives something a place, the lamp that makes the evening feel softer.
I'm a Mexican-American woman from a Foreign Service family. Over the years, we've moved several times — between countries, cities, schools, and entirely different versions of daily life. Each time, we moved into a house and worked to make it a home. That process, repeated across four Foreign Service assignments, shaped how I think about spaces and the things inside them.
One thing I noticed in every move: before the boxes were fully unpacked, before the pictures were up or the closets sorted, I made sure the kids' rooms felt ready. Their bedding, their familiar objects, their books in the right place — so that even in a brand-new place, they had somewhere that felt like theirs. That small priority, repeated again and again, became a kind of anchor. And it's at the heart of what Casita Finds is about.
A Home That Has Been Collected
The home I'm building Casita Finds around is not minimalist. It is gathered. An Aztec calendar on one wall. German nutcrackers on a shelf. Plates from Turkey. A textile from the Middle East. Baskets and pottery and books from the different places we've called home.
None of it is important because of what it cost. It's important because of what it represents — a life that has moved, adapted, and still found warmth inside its own four walls. The home feels like it was collected over time, not purchased all at once. That feeling is what I try to support with every recommendation here.
What This Site Is
Casita Finds is a bilingual home resource — in English and Latin American Spanish — for people who want their homes to feel warm, organized, and genuinely personal. It is not a store. It is a place to find home selections that have been thought through and chosen because they serve a real purpose and bring something good to a space.
